The Japanese Garden Cowden, Scotland

In 2014, Professor Fukuhara, Junya Matsukawa and I started restoration of Sha-raku-en. This historical and iconic Japanese garden was built in early 20th century by the owner of the land Ella Christie and a Japanese female garden designer Taki Handa. Sadly it was vandalised in 1960's which resulted in the closure of the garden. We have been working with the local landscape builders and carpenter. Almost all the original structures such as tea house and rest houses were reinstated and all the garden features and designs were restored. Currently, it is open to public.
